Ranjitha Suicide Attempt (Tamil Actress in Swami Nithyananda tape attempts suicide): In the latest news on the Swami Nithyanand Sex tape scandal, it has been reported that Ranjitha, the tamil actress who appeared in the tape, has attempted suicide.


But then, on the other hand, there are those who say that Ranjitha is the more blackmailing types and even this video was made with the intention of blackmailing the Swami. However, the plan misfired and it somehow went into the hands of the media and that has collapsed the whole sketch.
Karuppan said that last month when Nityananda had come to a function in Tamil Nadu he had threatned Karuppan to deposit the sextapes with him or face severe consequences. Fearing for his life, Karuppan fled their company.
T Rajendra, the Commissioner confirmed that Karuppan had given the complaint and a CD of the bedroom scenes of Nityananda has also been submitted to the police.

Thilakan to don grease paint in 'Achen'

Thespian, Thilakan, who was ousted from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) on the grounds of indiscipline, is all set to don the grease paint after a few months.

Speaking to us after appearing before the labour commissioner on Monday, Thilakan said director Ali Akbar has signed him in the lead role for his next film 'Achen'.



At the height of the feud, a well-wisher of the actor, Sreekumar Noornadu filed a petition before the state human rights commission that Thilakan was being victimised by various film bodies and his right to work is being curbed.

At the next hearing, superstar Mohanlal and AMMA president Innocent are expected to appear.

Thilakan dropped from TV serial

Veteran actor Thilakan, who was ousted from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) on grounds of indiscipline and virtually kept out of Malayalam films, has now been dropped from a TV serial.Speaking to mediapersons, the 74-year-old actor said that Monday evening the producer of TV serial 'Maatuoruval' called up to say that he should be ready by 9 a.m. the next morning for the shoot.



Thilakan alleged that Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) headed by its president and opposition legislator K.B. Ganesh Kumar was behind his ouster from the TV serial.

But ATMA general secretary Poojapura Radhakrishnan said that Thilakan has for long been attacking their president.

Mammootty wants to work with young,debutant directors

Southern superstar Mammootty says that he prefers to work with young, debutant directors as they have helped his career.




Mammootty said that he have always worked with debutants and young directors because they will always come up with scripts with fresh concepts.He added that they always come up with novel themes and this has helped him in getting variety of roles.

The actor's first Kannada Movie 'Shikari' is written and directed by young Kannada director Abhay Simha. The film is also being made simultaneously in Malayalam.

Mani Ratnam to get 2010 Filmmaker Award at Venice

Hailing Mani Ratnam as "one of the great innovators in contemporary Indian cinema", the Venice International Film Festival will honour the director of 'Raavan' with the 2010 Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award.


In recent years, the award given in partnership with Swiss watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre has honoured other major world filmmakers like Takeshi Kitano, Abbas Kiarostami, Agnes Varda, and Sylvester Stallone.

His new film is Raavan.Produced in association with Reliance Big Pictures and distributed internationally by Reliance Big Pictures and IM Global, 'Ravaan' opens in theatres worldwide June 18.

“I was so much impressed by my character in the movie. The other important reason for signing the project is it has dialogues by the Chief Minister, who is one of the veterans of Tamil film industry,” says the glam doll.

Dileep's Next Film 'Karyasthan' directed by Thomson

After the super hit Pappi Appacha, Dileep has decided to do another mass comedy entertainer.

He will play Karyasthan (caretaker), in this hilarious film written by his favourite Siby K Thomas-Udaykrishnan team and directed by Siby’s brother Thomson who is debuting.
The shoot of Karyasthan produced by Anto Joseph will start in July, after Dileep comes back from his US trip. The heroine is a new girl, an anchor in a reality show. 39 leading artists will be there in supporting roles like Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjaranmudu and others.
Karyasthan will be an out and out comedy entertainer, with all commercial entertainer. The film is slated to be Dileep’s big Ramzan release on September 10.

Parvathi Ommankuttan is the beauty who got the second place in the Miss World contest in 2008. She is debuting as the heroine in the Tamil film titled Uma Maheswaram. This film is based on the classical Bharathanatiyam dance.



Nithin Ramakrishnan is the person who directed the Malayalam film Apporva at his age of 17. This film had Kalabhavan Mani and Vimala Raman in the lead roles.
True Soul is producing this film. Prakash Raj is donning an important role in this film. V T Vijayan is editing this film while Santhosh is composing the music.

'I am not playing a mom in Mohanlal film Shikar': Sneha

Sneha has made it clear that she will not be playing mom roles in the near furture.

She was responding to reporters whether she was playing Ananya's onscreen mother in 'Shikar', A Mohanlal film in Malayalam.

'Singam': Biggest Tamil release in US

Suriya's 'Singam' has become the first Tamil film to be released on a unprecedented scale across US.

BIG Cinemas released the film in more than 30 screens across 24 locations/cities in US on June 28. These include 10 own locations of BIG Cinemas.

Directed by Hari, the film also stars Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj and Vivek.

Review : Oru Naal Varum - Nothing great in it.

The much awaited film of Mohanlal - Sreenivasan combination hit the screens today. After all the fuss about the story and the stay from the court, the movie released today. The story of the movie was written by Sreenivasan who had a bunch of super hit movies. But this time he is not up to expectations.

The movie starts with the life around a corrupted assistant town planing officer which is done by Sreenivasan. Mohanlal's character is Kolapully Sukumaran who is trying to make his house. Mohanlal and his daughter is living in a flat. He is separated from his wife Sameera Reddy. But he cannot get through the difficulties made by the Planning Officer to make his house. The movie advances through some funny scenes and Kolapully Sukumaran's family life.

Just before the interval we come to know that there is a twisting suspense in the story which takes the flow of movie to another direction.

During the same time Sameera Reddy who plays the role Meera, wife of Mohanlal files a case againt Mohanlal to get her daughter with her. Due to the failure of case Mohanlal is compelled to give his daughter to Meera. 

The movie lacks a rigid storyline and the absence of good comedy as expected from a Sreenivasan story make the audience disappointed. The smooth run of the story falls into gutter when ever the irrelevant family plot raises its head. Most of the time viewers get bored due to the slow growth of the story.

Archana Kavi into Tamil film Aravaan

Archana Kavi has got her first Tamil offer and that was from Vasanthabalan who made some memorable films like ‘Veyil’ and ‘Angadi Theru’.

Archana was before called for an audition by the reputed director Bala of ‘Pitamagan’, ‘Nandha’ and ‘Naan Kadavul’ fame. But that did not materialize at the end. Now Archana has got an equally best offer from Vasanthabalan in his forthcoming Tamil film ‘Aravaan’.

Director Vasanthabalan made the official announcement few days ago. 'Aravaan' film will have ‘Eeram’ fame Aadhi as the protagonist. Archana Kavi and Dhanshika are the two heroines in the film. ‘Veyil’ fame Pasupathy is also playing an important role.

‘Aravaan’ is a period film happening in the 18th century Tamil Nadu. Popular singer Karthik is debuting as the music composer. Siddarth of 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' fame would wield the camera. T Siva of Amma Creations would produce the film.

Oru Naal Varum lost its opening?

His eagerly awaited Oru Naal Varum, which released on July 9 in 71 stations in Kerala, did not take the kind of opening one would associate with a Lal ettan film.

The film also carries mixed reports and the blame is on Sreenivasan whose script looks jaded, and somehow it lacked the magic of the duo’s earlier combination films.

From the trade point of view, the film had a “cold start”, as the fans could not fill up the theatres and on Monday and Tuesday the collections have nosedived.

In Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram where Mohanlal films open in multiple screens, it released in a single screen. In Ernakulam, the bigger 1180 seater Sarita was only showing it for noon show while matinee, evening and night shows were screened at the 540 seater Savitha.

At the 909 seater Sreekumar in Thiruvananthapuram, traditional Mohanlal citadel with a small balcony (168 seats), there was no pressure on advance booking, and the hall was struggling to get houseful on a weekend.

At Kottayam Abhilash, another big screen the film has taken only a 85 percent opening.

The alarm bells are ringing in the trade. Oru Naal Varum, was said to be the comeback vehicle of Mohanlal, after the disastrous Alexander the Great.

It had a hit team of Mohanlal-Sreenivasan a combination that has never failed still the film has taken only an average opening.

 

Forty TV Stars in film ‘Kaaryasthan’,Creating History

Debutant director Thomson has shot a song featuring forty TV stars for his new film ‘Kaaryasthan’. The movie featuring Dileep as the hero took three days to complete the shoot of this colourful song ‘Vaa Kuruvikale’ set to music by Berny Ignatius. Apart from the TV stars, playback singers Biju Narayanan, Afzal and Rimi Tomy also appear in the frames of this song.

The song is presented in a scene of the marriage of one character, a leading TV artist Abbi George, where Krishannuni, the ace taker of Puthezhathu Veedu (character played by Dileep) also arrives to convey his wishes. When Krishnanunni starts to hum a few lines, all the stars arrived for marriage jump out to a song and dance sequence. This is the first time in Mollywood history where forty popular stars are featured in a single song.

It may be also of interest to note that Dileep had appeared in forty different costumes for a song in his previous hit ‘Pappy Appacha’.
